Monumental Antique Turkish Cleaver | Forged Iron with Stamped Motifs, Ottoman Era

$295.00

An extraordinary example of Ottoman-era craftsmanship, this large Turkish cleaver combines brutal function with symbolic beauty. The forged iron blade is heavy and wide, decorated with hand-stamped geometric motifs — symbols of protection, strength, and ritual significance. The handle, carved from a single piece of hardwood, retains its original grip ring and a twine loop — utilitarian details that feel talismanic today.

This is a rare survivor — too refined to be a simple butcher’s tool, too worn not to have seen real use. Now, it reads as a sculptural object with immense presence, commanding attention whether hung on the wall or styled as part of a curated interior.

Details:

  • Origin: Ottoman Empire / Turkey, late 19th–early 20th century

  • Materials: Forged iron, hardwood, natural twine

  • Dimensions: Approx. 22” long x 7” blade / ~56cm x18cm

  • Condition: Beautiful oxidized patina on blade; stable and sturdy; signs of authentic wear throughout
