Unearthed Roman Glass Unguentarium

$150.00

1st–4th century A.D.

A small Roman glass unguentarium, subtly flared at the lip and widening gently into a teardrop-shaped base. Its surface is coated with iridescence, earth pigments, and traces of time — not decoration, but evidence. This was once a vessel for scent or salve, passed hand to hand, drop to drop.

There’s a softness to its silhouette, and a quiet density to the way it holds space — like a memory preserved in mineral.

Measurements: Approx. 3 5/8 in (9.3 cm)
Material: Blown glass
Origin: Roman Empire
Condition: Intact with surface weathering, encrustation, and earthen patina

Provenance:
Acquired from Ancient & Oriental (UK), 1980s–1990s. From the Ian Wilkinson collection, Nottinghamshire, UK — formed since 1985.
